Abington’s Tricentennial Fundraising Begins With TeamworkTrivia.com

We are gonna party, like it’s 1712 ! …. well almost. Abington’s 300th Anniversary Committee started their fundraising with a winner, Teamwork Trivia.

Over 200 people were in competition for the trivia gold medals and Abington commemorative mugs on January 8th, 2011.
Top honors: Bingtown bragging rights and the prizes went to the table named, the “Boston Teams”!
Led by Mike Franey and his committee, the 22 tables filled up as the game began at 7:30. The committee also supplied a generous number of local, historic Abington town trivia.
—Did you know that boxing champion John L. Sullivan, the Boston Strong Boy retired to Abington.
—Did you know that Abington’s forests supplied white oak used on the decks of the USS Constitution, Old Ironsides!

Cash raised before the event included 14 sponsors…at $ 100 each.
This outstanding effort brought in $ 1400.00 from local Abington businesses.
One happy trivia player spent $10 on a 50/50 raffle ticket and walked home with $ 675.00!
25 raffle items were on display, so people could take a chance on their favorites.
The portable refrigerated cooler was the biggest item.
The live auction, conducted by auctioneer Jim Wells, included Celtics tickets (box seats) and an encased, collectible 2007-2008 Celts/Lakers Championship basketball.

The Tricentennial Committee has other fundraisers planned for their 2012 celebration.Click here for Abington 300 info

Elegant Winter Party at the State Room, Boston

The 200 guests at PRTM enjoyed fresh cocktails, gourmet dining and unmatched views of picturesque Boston from the 33rd floor of 60 State Street. Adding atmosphere to the holiday gathering,

I mixed standards and jazz interpretations of seasonal classics. The cocktail hour was held on the room’s upper level. Fun pop records like Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree and Jingle Bell Rock were followed by Dave Koz (sax, December..),
George Winston (piano, December),
Vince Guaraldi (piano & combo, Charlie Brown Christmas) ,
David Benoit (piano & combo, Remembering…) ,
Kenny G (sax, Holiday…),
Liona Boyd (acoustic guitar/flute, Dreams)
Billy McLaughlin (acoustic guitar, Simple Gifts) and
Trio West (jazz combo, Plays Holidays).

A cappella treats like the group “Straight No Chaser” (the 10-man a cappella sensation, Holiday Spirits) were matched with timeless versions like Andy Williams, Mitch Miller’s chorale, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby and Johnny Mathis.
…. and that was just the cocktail hour and dinner…

..and then there was dancing (part two, next).

Abington Boosters Double Up on Teamwork Trivia! Nov.19, 2010

Twice last year, twice this year. The Abington Boosters (HS parent group) had another jam-packed Teamwork Trivia Night on November 19, 2010. Led in part by Mary Rogers, the sold-out event raised thousands for the HS sports programs. The 250 people bid on Bruins tickets in a live auction. The 50 table items each had its own separate container, so people could bid on just the items that interested them. Each round was sponsored by a local business. The Jeffery Coombs Foundation, again, sponsored the whole event. Two trivia nights in 2009-2010 and two in 2010-2011 now make up the backbone of the Abington Boosters’ annual fundraising plans.

The competitive spirits ran high as the tables fought for the top spot. Although, some were disappointed that that they left out, ‘martini” in the “shaken not stirred” question. There were roars of satisfaction for “7th Heaven”, “Nascar’s Jimmy Johnson” and “Burr kills Hamilton”.

Rowley, Mass. small? No, getting bigger each year! It’s Pine Grove’s 3rd Teamwork Trivia Night!

November 13, 2010. The Pine Grove School’s parents and teachers (RPEF) got together for it’s 3rd Annual Teamwork Trivia Night. Led by, in part by Kate Scalley, a whopping 220 people gathered at the Black Swan Country Club in Georgetown MA (formally the Georgetown Club, which was re-named and re-opened in Jun 2010) Each of the seven rounds were sponsored by local businesses, at $100 per round : $700.00. With fun team names like the Squaucking Heads, Trivia-Newton-John, the right side of the bridge, the Big Top, and the Fabulous Forties (the winning table) -place was packed. BTW, the 50/50 raffle handed the one lucky woman $580.00! Pine Grove’s Principal Nealon, wished everyone the best of luck as her table, the Questionnaires, made a good showing. In a close match, the top 10 tables were separated by less than 10 points! The ever-growing attendance has made this fun night out, a new Pine Grove tradition.

The E.E. Little School, North Reading PTO celebrates it’s 4th Annual Teamwork Trivia Night! Nov 6, 2010

The Fourth Annual Teamwork Trivia Night was another sold-out success for the E.E. Little School PTO! Some tables dressed up their tables and themselves. In attendance were the “Chilean Miners” (w/ escape tube), the groovy 60’s/70’s table and the Patriots tail-gators. The Moose Lodge was barely big enough to fit the 250-plus parents and teachers who attended. The Silent Auction included prizes like ‘Principal for a Day’ and prime parking spaces. The raffle was stocked with great items like Bruins tix, gift baskets and gift certificates. A fun night out!

Shawsheen Valley Vocational Technical HS jumps into the Teamwork Trivia arena! Nov 5, 2010

Shawsheen Valley Vocational Technical High School initiated a new tradition on November 5th, 2010. Teamwork Trivia Night held at the showcase of function halls, the Billerica Elks. The five towns of Billerica, Bedford, Burlington, Tewksbury and Wilmington were represented. Although it was ‘table vs. table’ , bragging rights were defined by town, too. The group was led, in part , by Maureen Mahoney and Joann Brace. The winning medals were earned by the “Brainiacs” table. Coincidence? I think not.
