In 1970, Montgomery was attending Boston University while rehearsing with his fellow teen-age musicians. They got good in a hurry and noticed … by Capricorn Records.  The home label of the Allman Brothers. The productive Montgomery and his band released LP’s in 1973, 1974 and 1976. The James Montgomery Band had to tour constantly to survive as a blues band, in the disco era.

Montgomery has played harmonica for blues and rock royalty. He has jammed with rockers such as, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen and J.Geils. Montgomery tells of an incredible all-night, private surprise session with Mick Jagger. James has sat-in with blues legends like, B.B. King, James Cotton, Buddy Guy and John Lee Hooker. Too many to mention.

Montgomery’s bass player, David Hull,  has helped out Aerosmith several times during the 2006 tour, since Tom Hamilton’s battles with cancer. It’s not the first time that Hull has lent his bass to the Bad Boys of Boston. David was the original bassist for The Joe Perry Project from 1979 to 1982.

Great summary of JM and DH.Thanks for bringing attention to them, Emily’s upcoming performance and REACH. REACH is a fantastic organization and JM is a big supporter. It’s great to see someone who has made it so far to give so much of his time to so many.
